Whats your excuse?

Working in customer service I get a lot of lousy excuses for people’s lack of intelligence. Anything from “my computer is down”, to “I placed my order late at night and was half asleep” to “YOUR WEBSITE DOES NOT STATE THAT” … uh, yes it does.

My all time favorite excuse and the one that aggravates me the absolute most is “I HAVE KIDS AND DON’T HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS!”

Oh my gosh! If I hear another person blame their inability to complete something as simple as placing on order online because of their children, I swear I will……I will do something really bad. OK, not really bad, but it just bugs the crap out of me.

Case in Point:

Woman A placed an order for her daughter’s 1st birthday party online. Of course like every other person out there it is a “princess party”.

A sample of her invitation is this:

Well she received her order and of course it was just horrible. She didn’t know it was in the shape of a carriage….and the ribbon was defective because it was frayed. OK…ONE, I think it would be really hard to send defected ribbon….you would really have to screw it up. And TWO…do you not know how to cut ribbon? So, long story short I tried to explain that she would just need to cut the ribbon at a slight angle to prevent it from fraying. She then proceed on to her excuses…

“I have a 10 month old daughter and I also work part-time….I do not have time to cut 60 ribbons. “

Me: No way, you have a baby AND you work part-time???!! Holy Cow! That’s insane. How in the world do you handle all of that?

Ok, I did not say that, but that is what I was thinking. I just think it is so foolish to blame all of your mistakes or all of your stupidities on your poor child. Arg! Ok, I am truly sorry if this offends anyone, but HELLLLOOOO I work full time too and I have a crazy 2-year-old running around and I do the dishes and I cook, and I do the laundry and I play with Denver and I bathe him, and feed him and on and on and on…..but you know what? I love it! I even have time in there to surf the net and check my email, and even time to sit around on the couch. I think that some people just get so comfy in their little nook of where they are; whether it be a stay-at-home parent or a parent with a full or part-time job, blaming your kids….I mean come on!!!!

I know several people who have 3 kids, or even 4 kids…work, and are so busy that they are scatter brained 90% of the time….but I have never once heard a complaint like that from them.

If you can not handle something like checking your email and holding your 10-month old at the same time, maybe you better re-think having anymore kids until you master that one first.

OK, that’s my rant.

Can you tell I’ve had a bad day?

Awww, poor Katy! That doesn't sound too fun. :( A princess party?? For a one year old? Puuleeze! Sounds like she's not going to have time to plan it if she can't cut a few ribbons. People need to get over themselves sometimes!! We are all busy! (well, except me because I'm a bum. ;) )

Americans loooooove excuses. Well actually the human race does. We will try to blame anyone and everything for our own faults if it means not owning up to it. I'm sorry you got stuck with PrincessPartyZilla today!!!! She needs to put a cork in it and cut the ribbon! What can she do at this point?? Order more?? I think not! DEal with it!!!

(Can you tell I"m getting married and moving my life in a month?! Puts things in perspective :)

sometimes what is easy for one person is not easy for another. Not all people can handle a million things at once. God did not create us all the same and God did not create us to bad mouth others.....maybe have sympathy sometimes and just know sometimes people have a bad day. Love thy neighbor...
