A Christmas Story

I've found myself with a bit of writers block lately. I feel like my life is just your average life with the same 'ol happenings everyday.
Well I've decided to give you my next post as our Christmas Story...
You know the old movie "A Christmas Story"? Well Jason and I took Denver to see the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord. Denver's GiGi kindly offered to take us out there and I'm so glad she did! We had so much fun and D really enjoyed every minute of it... Well except perhaps for the "A Christmas Story" moment. He had on 2 shirts, a sweatshirt jacket, his coat, and the HUGE parka that the kind Gaylord folks give you. That poor boy could barley lift his arms and hated it for a few minutes there.
After he got a little used to it, and figured out that it was 9 degrees inside he was pretty glad he had it on. He LOVED the Grinch themed ICE sculptures and even got a few small Grinch ornaments to put on our Christmas tree. It was cold, but totally cool to see. It really is amazing how those men can carve that ice!
After we saw the ICE we went to see none other than the big guy himself. I was a little nervous going into this. Sometimes D is ALLLLLL talk. Anytime we talk about having cake (parties, showers, dessert....) he is so excited. He can hardly contain his excitement. He ask over and over when this "cake" will be here. Then we get the cake and he freezes up. Ha! He will have maybe a little lick of icing then he runs away like it's the nastiest thing he has ever had. I don't get it.
SO, when we got to Santa he was excited. Then we got closer and closer and Denver just got quieter and quieter. I was getting nervous that we might have a freak-out!
Finally, it was our turn. We were at the front of the line and D was holding onto my hand like he was falling off a cliff. Then... I get YANKED across the floor as D is darting strait towards Santa. Past the elf, past the little girl who just got off santa's lap, see ya daddy and GiGi....... Bull’s-eye to Santa! He just stood there right in front of him. In awe.

Santa: well hi there young man. Would you like to come sit with me?
(he was an awesome Santa by the way)
D: yes.
Santa: and what's your name?
D: Denver Wakin
Santa: Denver!? Great name! Can you smile at the camera?
D: Cheeeeeeeeeeeeese!
(a few pics were taken here)
Santa: and what do you want me to bring you, Denver?
D: a diesel choo choo!
Santa: a choo choo? Like Thomas the Train?
D: no, a diesel choo choo. (very politely, of course) he was very serious. Wanted to make sure Santa got it right!
(great picture taken here!)
Santa: ok, Denver it was really good to see you! Merry Christmas.
D: bye Santa!

Wow! I was seriously blown away. Not only by this perfect, angelic, priceless picture (which cost $17...holy cow!)
But I wanted to cry at the fact that my baby... Isn't a baby anymore. Wow! He did that all by himself. I didn't push him to do it or even ask him. He did it all on his own and he was so proud of himself. I am just so sad that he is not my little boy anymore. He is honestly such a big boy and knows it.
He is so proud of that fact.
He is also...
So proud that he can turn his light on and off.
So proud that he can go tee-tee and poo-poo in the potty and not his pants.
So proud to put decorations on the tree!!!
So proud to be able to hold Porsche.
He is also so so so....
So proud that he's gonna be a BIG BROTHER!!!! :-)

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
